Make it or break it

During these last few moments leading up to summer, many things are going on. State testing, Reagents, DC, Prom, Graduation. But with all that just inching closer and closer, another thing is just around the corner. This thing happens to be dance related. A performance. DanceWave, which is a dance program I take part in, is ending Spring by holding a Spring Performance! I happen to be in two classes at DanceWave, which means I will be taking part in two dances during the show. While the rush of performing is amazing, it's hard work to get there. I have many tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals and need to go shopping for any other equipment or cosmetics. I'm really excited because I've worked so hard to finally present these dances to an eager crowd. If all goes well I might go to DC 2, a higher dance class in the program. Wish me luck!

End of the year dance

It's time to say goodbye to middle school and hello to high school as the time comes closer and closer towards graduation for the 8th grade. This year in talent I feel like I could really express my self and challenge myself to learn new things. We've covered quite a lot of material since first stepping into the dance room and we're putting our skills to the test as we perform one last time on the MS 447 stage. The dance were doing is complex, and challenging, but new and interesting. I believe that with much hard work and group effort, we could definitely perform something never seen on the stage.

"Like I'm gonna lose you."

Jordan Koffi and I are preparing a dance to perform at the end of the year performance. We chose to do a dance that symbolizes saying goodbye, which we all have to get used to when the time comes and we move on to high school. We chose to do a modern piece with some complexity, to the song, "Like I'm gonna lose you," by Meghan Trainor and John Legend. The dance is a progressing project, but overall it's really fun to experiment with different styles. I can't be excited enough for the day we finish choreographing the dance and present it to the school. We want the dance to be something new shown on the stage and new for our fellow peers to see. It'll be a memory I'll take forever.

Variety talent show

Around March this food market in my neighborhood has a talent show, where the younger generation can express themselves through their own talent. My brother and I have participated in this fun little event for 4 years, were now known as the seniors who wrap up the show. I'm very proud to be taking part in something so fun and loving. The show was actually held a week ago, and it was fun to take part in,many kids however were afraid to even go on stage and the audience had to give them much support so they could have the the confidence to step on stage. While the talent show has been fun through the years, I feel that its coming to an end. Where my brother and I are getting to old and we should give other people the chance to shine and become the seniors. But then I guess the saying is true, nothing stays the same forever.

Gymnastics with Dance: ACRO DANCE

Acro dance is something special, something new. It's bringing new levels of complexity to the art of dance. Acro dance is combining gymnastics and dance together to form something new. I love dancing, but I as well love gymnastics. so acro never seizes to amaze me. Watch this short video to see just how amazing and powerful this style of dance truly is:

Dance weekend!!

Today I'm totally freaking, it's the day I bring together everything I've learned in modern, ballet and salsa at school and performe it. It's a big day and I want to do my best. I also have my Frank Sanatra audition the following morning and scared for that, but will do my best! I am titling my weekend, my dance weekend in honor of how far all the dances have come and how much I've grown in the past month.

Performance for the grades

Today was the day we all came together to present our Salsa dance. We worked on it and had fun in the process. In my opinion are performance was weak for the 1st time around but highly improved by the 3rd. Can't wait until Saturday when we do it all again! I really don't want to end Salsa since it's been so fun learning with Mrs. Rebecca, but jumping into Tap I feel more energetic then ever! Since I've never taken Tap, I will be learning something entirely new and I think that'll be really cool, going of the normal routine. Basically this a shout-out to anybody who performed! We did amazing! Can't wait for when we take on the dance of Tap!
